Situated in the picturesque town of Holt, this once famous Coaching Inn is steeped in history. In the early 19th century, the “Regulator” coach left three times a week for the fourteen hour journey to London, and in the same era the Feathers used to provide facilities for the Gentlemen of Holt to meet the Gentlemen of Reepham for a “main of cocks” in one of the ground floor rooms. A photograph of the Inn taken earlier this century shows that the landlord was then a Mr. Cubitt Cooke and that around this time the author Peter Bull visited and wrote a poem in praise of the house. The original, still displayed in the bar, ends “In fact it’s a place to which your heart tethers, so good luck to the host of the jolly old Feathers”.

Today, the hotel offers you a warm and friendly family welcome to help you enjoy the area with all it’s amenities and interesting places to visit. There are several beaches within a few miles as are other facilities for sailing, tennis, swimming, golf, and so much more.

Enjoy a welcoming drink in the snug bar with it’s open log fire in the colder months, or the lounge bar with its relaxing atmosphere, where food is available most of the day.

“The Plume”, our `a la Carte restaurant, offers a relaxing atmosphere of it’s own, with secluded alcoves and discrete lighting for a truly romantic experience. For an occasional change of atmosphere there are regular “theme nights” for various styles of continental cookery. Situated on the ground floor, the restaurant is non-smoking and seats up to 30 guests in a quiet privacy that enables everybody to enjoy the embiance. Special Lunch, `a la Carte and table d’Hôte menus are available.

The hotel has 13 bedrooms which are very comfortably furnished, with full central heating, colour television, radio, tea and coffee making facilities, trouser press etc. Most have ensuite facilities, and all are furnished to reflect the character of the hotel in this Georgian market town of Holt.

Just as Holt is the centre of North Norfolk, the Feathers Hotel is a meeting centre for the whole town . Local businessmen meet on the way home in the ‘Snug’; friends and family from the surrounding villages know they can be sure of meeting someone in the lounge bar.

Local companies, the Chamber of Commerce and various organisations use the facilities of the “Gresham Suite” which, located on the ground floor caters for up to 150 guests with a full range of menus available. It is a superb venue for wedding, banquet or business functions. There is also a smaller business function room on the first floor which can cater for up to 20 people.
