Entertainment for the family
North Norfolk does not pretend to be Las Vegas, but everything is relative, and for genuine family entertainment, there are few if any places in the country where, within a few miles one can enjoy pier shows, amusement arcades, cinema and an annual carnival that rivals Notting Hill - all at Cromer; arcades and a "little theatre" at Sheringham; carnivals and gala days throughout the summer in most of the other towns and villages; boat trips from Blakeney and Morston; riding on the "Holt Flyer" the horse-drawn carriage that runs between Holt and the North Norfolk Steam Railway for a steam train journey to Sheringham; small gauge railway trips through the beautiful Bure valley from Aylsham to Wroxham and the interesting trip on the Wells - Walsingham railway. For those with a sporting interest Fakenham Race meetings on most bank holidays are a family day out. There are of course the beaches with glorious golden sand and generally safe bathing at Holkham, Wells, Sheringham, Cromer, Overstrand, Bacton and beyond. There is so much to do - there are not enough days in the week!

Places of Interest
From a water fowl park; falconry centre; rare farm breeds; steam railways; country houses, halls and gardens; museums; arts & craft galleries and old magnificent churches to a working watermill and a hand-made crystal glass factory - there is something to see for every day of the week, whatever the weather.

Sporting Activities
Cycling and walking are very popular, but be warned North Norfolk is not flat - if it were the rolling and undulating countryside it would not be so pleasant or interesting. Cycle hire is available.

For the really active enjoying water sports, there are facilities and clubs for wind-surfing and water-skiing at Wells, sailing at Morston and Blakeney with sail training, canoe and dingy hire available, and surfing at East Runton.

Most towns have sports halls in the area for keep fit activities. Swimming, tennis and bowling facilities are available at local clubs and centres. For horse riding and trecking, there are several riding centres in the area offering these facilities.

Whatever you want to do - Out and About lets you know "What's On".
